Traveling by public transportation

While Darlington, South Carolina, does not have a large public transport network, race fans can still reach Darlington Raceway using shuttle services or rideshare options with a bit of planning.

By shuttle

Fans attending the Goodyear 400 can use the PDRTA Fan Shuttle, which runs between the Florence Center in Florence and Darlington Raceway.

Shuttles typically depart from the Florence Center (3300 W Radio Dr, Florence, SC) multiple times in the afternoon and travel directly to the circuit before the race.

Return services operate in the evening, with the final departure scheduled around 90 minutes after the race finishes.

Advance registration is required, and the service is available to all ticket holders.

By train

The most practical rail option is to travel with Amtrak to Florence, South Carolina. Darlington itself does not have an active train station, but Florence is located roughly 10 miles (16 km) from the track.

Amtrak’s Palmetto and Silver Meteor lines stop in Florence daily, connecting the area with major cities such as New York, Washington, Charleston, and Miami.

From Florence, there is no regular public transport directly to the raceway. The only dedicated option is the PDRTA Fan Shuttle. Otherwise, a taxi or rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft is the most reliable choice. The journey takes around 20 minutes and typically costs between $40 and $50, depending on demand.

Local PDRTA buses can take you closer to Darlington town, but they do not serve the raceway itself, so they are not recommended unless combined with other transport.

For example, visitors travelling from Charleston can take an Amtrak train to Florence and then continue by taxi or shuttle to the circuit. The same approach applies to longer journeys from cities such as Washington, DC, or Miami.

In short, while there is no direct train connection to Darlington Raceway, travelling via Florence is a workable option. Just be sure to arrange your final transfer in advance, as transport options near the circuit are limited.
